About the Bows

How they are made

The little details matter to me.  That's why I take the extra step to make sure that you're getting a high quality item.

*All ribbons are heat sealed to prevent fraying.  No nail polish or fray check is used.
*Each bow is hand sewn.  This ensures that the bow won't come apart if reshaping is necessary.  No wire or rubberbands are used.
*The alligator clips I use are great quality.  I'm really sorry if you got a bow from the first many months of getting this business up and running.  Those were NOT great quality clips.  If you happen to be reading this, and you are one of those customers, I'd love to switch out the clip for you if you mail your bow to me.  I'm so embarrassed that I even used those. :)

How to wear them

Most of my bows are on a single prong alligator clip.  Even though they are great quality, they work best when paired with a ponytail holder.  We love to just pull up my daughter's bangs, pony it, and pop a bow right it.  It almost NEVER comes out.  However, on occasion, I don't even use a ponytail.  I just slide the bow right up the side of her hair to keep it out of her face.  Because this is not really how alligator clips are supposed to be used, it often requires an adjustment after a few hours.  But we still do it, and haven't lost any bows.  Just know that it will likely come loose slowly if she wears it that way.  And of course, don't forget that all the bows can be attached through the ribbon loop of a headband or onto a beanie!

Clips

These are the types of clips I can put on my bows.  If you order a bow and would like any type of clip BESIDES a single pronged alligator clip, please email me (thepinkadink@gmail.com) to let me know which type you would like!

Mini Snap Clip: this clip is great for babies with hair, or toddlers with wispy hair. It doesn't hold very much hair if the hair is thicker.
Mini Alligator Clip: this clip is still small, but holds a larger amount of hair.  If you have a big girl that can't seem to keep a regular sized alligator clip in her hair, this would be a great option.
Single Pronged Alligator Clip: This is the standard clip that I use.  It can be used in most types of hair, and works best when paired with a ponytail (see 'how to wear them,' above).
Large Snap Clip: This clip can be used for almost any type of hair.  It works best on big girls.
French Barrette: This is the type of clip that I use for my BIG bows.  Because the bows seem to be a bit heavier, and are harder to keep in place, the "clasping" type of barrette works well.  This is also the clip that I use for my Loopy Loops.

Bow Styles

I usually do two types of bows, basic and boutique.  The style difference is mostly visible in the 4 inch bows.  The two styles look VERY similar in the 3 inch bows.  If there is another style of bow you would like, or have seen somewhere else, please let me know and I can more than likely make it.  These are just the two that I make most often.
